Back in the day, I met Matthew Anthony (I call him Matt), while I was blogging and interviewing artists. He was at the helm of Perfect Driver Records, I was building Mass Musings - we bonded over the entrepreneurial struggle, our shared love of House Music, and a good burger. Years later, coincidentally just before the pandemic hit, we both said goodbye to our dreams of what was and could have been, and stepped back to tend to ourselves and our mental health before regrouping and deciding what the future would hold. I knew that Mass Musings was done forever but in some ways, it was reborn into what WCKD Collective is now.

Matt ultimately circled all the way back around and has now relaunched Perfect Driver 2.0! To say the excitement is real is an understatement!

The Dream About It EP came together in early 2023 when Matthew Anthony was on the island of Oahu playing a Dirty Feat Crew party at Hawaii’s most underground venue, Aether. Chance King (half big wave surfer, half dance music producer and the boss of Dirty Feet Crew) hosted Anthony for three weeks while they explored nature and absorded the island’s spirit, natively known as Mana.

This Mana manifested in the studio, where both Anthony and King were called to create several tracks together. This creative journey lead to not only a deeper friendship and musical connection between the two, but also yielded Perfect Driver’s second coming. Anthony’s signature dark, bass-heavy, funk-routed drums and twisted build-ups are complimented by the massive synth drops of King as well as powerful, rich vocals making this collaboration one that’s for sure worthy of a listen.
